Firsthand

Changelog

Everything that ships, as it ships.

New

Firsthand 1.0.2

Licence keys work. Buying Firsthand now emails you a key that removes the watermark, and it is verified on your Mac rather than against a server, so activation works offline and on every Mac you own. No account, no sign-in.

New

Firsthand Remote is open to everyone

The iPhone app is out as a public TestFlight beta. No invite to request, no waitlist, no account. Install it on your phone, open Firsthand on your Mac, and they find each other over Wi-Fi.

Fixed

Firsthand 1.0.1

Narration recording is fixed. On 1.0 the Mac app was refused microphone access by macOS before it could even ask, so it never appeared in System Settings and could not capture your voice. Update now if you are on 1.0. Also: permissions are requested when you choose to grant them rather than at launch, the onboarding back button works, the window resizes down properly, and the camera no longer jumps corners when the iPhone feed stutters.

New

Firsthand 1.0 for Mac

The Mac app is downloadable. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a warning and without a trip through System Settings. Firsthand Remote for iPhone is going out through TestFlight.

New

A new look, inside and out

Firsthand's redesign lands: glass chrome, spring-driven motion everywhere, a rebuilt welcome tour, and real product imagery. The camera can now be turned off, and a solo phone takes center stage on the canvas.

New

Your iPhone can now find the Mac app

Install the Remote first and it points you to the Mac app: AirDrop the download link straight to your Mac, or type the short address it shows you.

New

First-run onboarding

Pairing in under a minute: camera and mic set up with context, a QR code to grab the Remote, and the shortcut to start your first take.

Improved

Sharper exports for free users

The Made with Firsthand mark now uses the real wordmark, aligned to the baseline, at full pixel resolution.

Improved

Near-native stream quality

The iPhone feed moved to hardware H.264: full resolution at up to 60fps, with latency you won't notice.

New

DemoCapture is now Firsthand

New name, new icon, same promise: your demo, your hand, one take.
